The wedding will be at a resort called "Secrets Bahia Mita", an All-Inclusive resort that is part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection. We have a room block to make things easy and you can book right here on our website by going to the Book Your Room page! Our travel agency, Barefoot Bridal, will help you through all the bookings and you will have a significant amount of time after your initial deposit to pay for your stay. If you google the resort, you might see that it is adults only. Never fear! The resort building is split into two sides, one side is called "Secrets" the other side is called "Dreams". Dreams is family friendly complete with a pirate themed water park! We made sure to reserve some rooms in our room block on the Dreams side as well. You can see more of the resort on their Instagram page here.
There are two formal events this weekend- the wedding and the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner will be on the rooftop of the resort on the "Moon Deck" and ALL are invited! You can find the dress code for these events on our "Attire" page . Other than that, you can find a list of what to pack on the packlist page.
While you're not required to stay at the resort, we highly recommend it to make the most of your time with us and enjoy all the wedding festivities. If you choose to stay elsewhere, the resort requires us to purchase a guest pass for you, which will only allow entry one hour before the wedding and departure immediately following the reception. Unfortunately, this pass does not grant access to any of the other wedding events or the resort’s amenities. Staying at the resort ensures you’ll have full access to everything and won’t miss out on any special moments!
Booking with our travel agent is not required, but we strongly recommend it for a smooth experience and to ensure you're part of our group. If you happen to find a lower price elsewhere, please let us know! We will do our best to match the rate and secure it for everyone in our group. By booking with the travel agent, you'll also help us coordinate better and make sure everyone gets the most out of the trip and the wedding festivities.
You will be flying in to Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). Google Flights allows you to track flights which means they will update you via email when prices change for your searched dates. We strongly suggest using this feature! How to track flights with Google Flights
Upon entering Mexico you may be required to fill out the Forma Migratoria Multiple or Mexico tourist card. If so, this form will be given out to you halfway through your flight to Mexico by an airline stewardess. It's comprised of two sections. You only need to fill out the top half section on the front page. At the security gate, a security agent will keep one part and give you back the other.
When you book with the travel agency through our website, airport transfers will be automatically added to your invoie. However, you can email them after you book and they will take that service off for you. The resort uses a company call AmStar which, while not private to our group, is significantly cheaper. Transfer arrangements can be made online by vising their website. Alternatively, the resort also offers free parking and PVR has many rental car options available.
The date of our wedding is Friday, 5/16/2025. We have our room block from Wednesday, 5/14/2025 until Sunday, 5/18/2025 and we will be having wedding events each day. However, if you would like a shorter trip, feel free! You can contact our travel agent, Barefoot Bridal, to do that. We also have several rooms in our room block that are reserved Tuesday 5/13/2025 until Tuesday 5/20/2025 if you would like to extend your trip!
All of the prices can be found on the Book Your Room page of this website. The price for a basic room is about $1,800 for 2 people for 4 nights or $900 per person for all 4 nights ($221 per person per night). This includes hotel accommodations and unlimited food and drinks while you are on the property for those 4 days.
You will need a passport book to enter the country (not just the card). You can learn more about acquiring a passport here. Your passport cannot expire within 6 months of travel so renew if you need to!
Puerto Vallarta is one of the safest cities in Mexico regarding the crime rate. While petty theft does occur, violent crime is almost non-existent, unless you go looking for it. The city is protected by the Mexican National Guard 24/7/365, who roam the streets on foot. While Mexico itself has a Level 2 Travel Advisory in place, which advises visitors to exercise increased caution due to crime, Puerto Vallarta specifically has not been given a higher level advisory. However, it is important to always exercise caution while traveling and be aware of your surroundings, especially in unfamiliar areas. This article has good tips and well researched safety information.
Once on the resort, you can expect the same level of security you'd expect at any Hyatt property in the states. However, for additional safety, there is a small safe located inside of your room and we suggest putting any money, jewelry, or passports in there.
While it's always good to learn a new language and it could come in handy if you decide to venture off the resort, the majority of the staff will be able to speak both English and Spanish! At most all-inclusive resorts there is little to no language barriers. If you do find yourself needing to know Spanish, the Google Translate app is a great tool!
Tipping is not required but it is highly appreciated. While the 20% tip we are accustomed to in the US is not expected or needed, a few dollars each day to your bartender, maid, or servers is a great way to show your gratitude for their exceptional service. $2-$5 goes a long way!
Both USD and Mexican Pesos are apricated by the staff. We suggest exchanging your money either at your bank stateside or at the hotel for a fee. Keep an eye out, as the exchange rate fluctuates!
When you book through our travel agent, your round-trip airport transfer will automatically appear on your bill. However, airport transfers through the travel agency are not required. You can email them to have it removed after booking, and they will refund your credit card. The resort partners with Amstar for airport transfers, and their rates currently seem to be about half the price. You can arrange transfers through their website here. (The brides have traveled with Amstar many times, and they are very reputable and easy to use!)

There is a lot of information online about the drinking water in Mexico. It is recommended you DO NOT drink or brush your teeth with faucet/tap water because it is not purified. Not to worry, there will be plenty of bottled water provided in your room and throughout the resort. Drinking water from pitchers and ice served at the resort will be ok to drink because it is filtered onsite and compliant to the highest level in industry sanitation standards. As a rule, always drink and brush your teeth with bottled water.
